The Training of Teachers in Computer Science was organized for the Kerala state from 4
to 12 January, 2012 at L.B.S. Institute of Technology (LBSIT) for Women, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Twenty Five (25) out of 30 teachers attended the programme. The programme was inaugurated by the Principal of the college and the Programme Coordinator. Prof. Saheeda, the Principal of LBSIT welcomed all the participants and expressed her views about the updation of knowledge in the training programme. She urged to the participants to take the advantage of the training sessions from the Resource Persons. She also expressed her gratitude to PSSCIVE for choosing this college as the venue for the training programme. The Programme Coordinator discussed the need and importance of vocational education and training programmes to update the knowledge and skills of the teachers for onward transmission to their students. He gave the brief introduction of PSSCIVE and its functioning. Then he presented the programme schedule to the participants and invited their suggestions to include any other topics which they want. Throughout the 8 days of the training programme, the training was imparted in technical sessions through theoretical discussion, demonstration and practical hands on. The topics covered includes – Windows Server Administration, Introduction to Computer Hardware Repair and Assembly, Networking concepts, TCP/IP Protocol, Network Topologies, Programming in Visual Basic and C#, RDBMS MySQL, Web Programming – HTML, Java Script, PHP. The teachers took interest and learned the topics covered in the sessions. They have updated their knowledge and skills. All the teachers were satisfied about the training provided to them as observed from feedback proforma. Director and Joint Director, VHSE, Kerala, Director and Principal of LBSIT were present in the valedictory session. They gave their motivational address to the participants and expressed thanks to PSSCIVE for organizing training programme for the teachers of Kerala State.
